On November 8, 2022, we organized a seminar in Bratislava on the topic Implementation of Affirmative action boosting up by employers and diversity management in the workplace (in the context of employment of marginalized Roma communities). The seminar was intended for employers in the private emergency sector who are potential receivers or implementers of Affirmative action boosting up.
Affirmative action boosting up are specific measures that serve to create equality in access to employment, education, health care or housing, for example through targeted preparatory programs, by disseminating information about such programs or about opportunities to apply for jobs. Their recipients can be public administration bodies or other legal entities. In the context of employment, the key beneficiaries of Affirmative action boosting up are employers, regardless of whether they are public or private sector employers.
As part of the seminar, we also presented a preparatory study on the practical use of Affirmative action boosting up in Slovakia and abroad (pdf, 10 MB) and a manual for employers Affirmative action boosting up – How to proceed in the process of their acceptance and implementation (pdf, 3 MB).
The seminar was implemented as part of the project entitled “Affirmative action boosting up to increase the employment and education of Roma” supported by Norwegian grants 2014-2021 and the state budget of the Slovak Republic. You can read more detailed information about the project on the website of the project partners BBSK Labor Agency on the Ongoing Projects subpage. The goal of the project is to increase awareness and better use of Affirmative action boosting up in the employment of Roma men and women, especially marginalized Roma communities.
