On March 11 and 12, the BBSK Labor Agency together with the Slovak National Center for Human Rights organized a 2-day training for non-governmental organizations, the main topic of which was work with vulnerable clients in the field of employment and education. The training was all the more interesting because the representatives of our Norwegian partner – the company MiA (Stiftelsen Mangfold i Arbeidslivet), namely the director of the organization Eli K. Langset and Ayesha Khan, a social anthropologist, shared their experiences with us. The Norwegian organization MiA has been active in the field of vocational education and training for more than 20 years.
The lectures were focused on the topic of inclusion, prevention of discrimination, minority rights, integration into society, social recognition and acceptance. The trainers explained to us the system of employment services in Norway, the adult education process (financial and digital skills, language courses), we learned about their procedures for preparing clients for employment, and also how to effectively cooperate with employers.
Despite the fact that the Norwegian organization focuses on work with immigrants, many experiences and knowledge can be translated into our work. The training was very inspiring and stimulating, and also fun – enriched with interactive activities where we got to know each other better, practiced our social skills and shared different perspectives on the given issue.
Representatives from 7 non-governmental organizations and field social workers participated in the training.
The event was financed by the project entitled “Temporary balancing measures to increase the employment and education of Roma” supported by Norwegian grants 2014 – 2021 and the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
